Shammy the tripawd Newfoundland.

Hello this is about my 7 year old girl Shammy. Shammy is a wonderful girl who has brought so much joy into so many lives. She is the daughter of my 11 year old girl named Kimber. Shammy also has had two litters and was such a great momma. On Tuesday March 15th my world came to a crashing halt when we found out she had a bone tumor on her left front leg. On Thursday she had her leg amputated and we are now having a long recovery and learning process.

  1. Welcome to you & Shammy. I am sorry you had to join the club no one wants to join. She is a beautiful girl.
The first few weeks are the toughest but once she get the staples/sutures out you will see more of her personality come back

  2. Welcome Shammy. We hate that you had to have an amputation, but you are in the right place. We can’t wait to hear more about you and see all your pretty pictures.

Karma, Adelaide and the pack, and always with our angel Brendol

  3. OMD! Look at that Cuddle Bear! Shammy is a great big snuggly Cuddle Bear!! 🙂

We are forced ro make decisions no one should have to make because of this stupid piece of crap disease. You are doing what is absolutely necessary to give Shammy a chance at a quality and pain free life. Shammy has now been given the gift of being able to have more loving, more spoiling, more tummy rubs and more cuddles! She would not have that chance without the amputation.

As you already know, recovery is no picnic. It jas a lot of ups and downs, and a few face plangs as well.

Stay connected! We have a whole lot of firsthand knowledge about this recovery process…a whole lot!!

Try and get some rest. Getti g to this poi t is very stressful and pretty darn exhausting.

Would LOVE to see more pictures..and some of the puppies too!

    Hugs to all!

  5. We have also just joined the ranks of having a tripawd sweetie. Our 6 year old St. Bernard Patch had his right front leg amputated on Friday due to bone cancer. We are so glad to have the source of pain gone but it has been a difficult first few days. So grateful for this site and the wonderful lady I met on the helpline over the weekend.

Wish you and your sweet Shammy a speedy recovery!

  6. What an awesome dog!!!! Stay strong Shammy!!! The first week is rough but it gets easier and the adaptability of our dogs is simply amazing. Prayers and positive thought being sent your way. Theresa and Zeus
